Description

Media types used for spatial data sets in INSPIRE download services are listed at http://inspire.ec.europa.eu/media-types/. In Germany we miss media types that can be used for zip archives that contains JPEG or TIFF files. Would it be possible to add corresponding media types to the register at http://inspire.ec.europa.eu/media-types/ ?

Hi Daniela,

thanks for the suggestion. Sure, this can be done. Could you make a concrete proposal for the types that you would like to be added, so that we can discuss them in the MIG-T and with relevant experts (if necessary).

It might also be an idea to migrate the current statis file register into the INSPIRE registry in order to make changes easier to manage and clearer to users.

What do you think?

Hi Michael,

we propose to add the following media types:

image/png

The media type shall be used for PNG (Portable Network Graphics) as specified by ISO 15948; IETF RFC 2083.

application/x-pgz

The media type shall be used for a zip archive that contains one or more PNG files and the associated world files if they are present.

image/jpeg

The media type shall be used for JPEG Network Graphics.

application/x-jgz

The media type shall be used for a zip archive that contains one or more JPEG files and the associated world files if they are present.

application/x-tfz

The media type shall be used for a zip archive that contains one or more TIFF files and the associated world files if they are present.

application/x-j2z

The media type shall be used for a zip archive that contains one or more JPEG 2000 files and the associated world files if they are present.

For maintenance reasons it would be indeed worthwhile to migrate the repository into the INSPIRE registry.
