Description

The examples provided in the implementation guidance and support for the Spatial scope code list (https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/fpfis/wikis/display/InspireMIG/Spatial+scope+code+list) show how tagging data sets using the values of the spatial code coming from the relevant controlled vocabulary in the INSPIRE registry as keywords in the metadata records.

It's not clear if those values can be used in the metadata language (if a localisation for that language is available in the INSPIRE register).

E.g., in Italian metadata records, what follows could be valid for the proper calculation of the indicators DSi1,4 and DSi1,5?

<gmd:descriptiveKeywords>
    <gmd:MD_Keywords>
        <gmd:keyword>
            <gco:CharacterString>Nazionale</gco:CharacterString>
        </gmd:keyword>
        <gmd:thesaurusName>
            <gmd:CI_Citation>
                <gmd:title>
                    <gco:CharacterString>Spatial scope</gco:CharacterString>
                </gmd:title>
           ...
</gmd:descriptiveKeywords>

Or

<gmd:descriptiveKeywords>
    <gmd:MD_Keywords>
        <gmd:keyword>
            <gco:CharacterString>Regionale</gco:CharacterString>
        </gmd:keyword>
        <gmd:thesaurusName>
            <gmd:CI_Citation>
                <gmd:title>
                    <gco:CharacterString>Spatial scope</gco:CharacterString>
                </gmd:title>
           ...
</gmd:descriptiveKeywords>

Thank you in advance,

Antonio

Ciao Antonio,

these are the translations provided in INSPIRE metadata code list register

Thank you for your reply, Vlado!

I used those translations ("Nazionale" and "Regionale") because a few days ago I submitted a change proposal to that INSPIRE metadata code list register (see issue https://ies-svn.jrc.ec.europa.eu/issues/3757).

I implicitly understand that the answer to my question is that the spatial scope values in Italian language (as published in the register) can be used as values of the keyword element in metadata records and, consequently, the mentioned indicators will be calculated properly.

Kind regards,

Antonio

Dear Antonio,

The change request for the values in the INSPIRE registry has been published. You can now use the new values in your metadata.

Best regards,

Daniele on behalf of the JRC INSPIRE Support team
