Short description

The GDI-DE Registry is a project of the SDI Germany. The project’s goal is to setup and provide a joint registry for all administrations in Germany. It addresses all three levels of administration: national, regional and local. The GDI-DE Registry is hosted by the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy on behalf the Steering Committee GDI-DE.

Use Case

Register of code lists

This register supported the maintenance of code lists

Register of INSPIRE-Monitoring information

Collection of the deliveries for the INSPIRE monitoring. Data providers can register their deliveries for the INSPIRE Monitoring report using tools to derive parameters from the GDI-DE Testsuite and the national catalogue service. Provide optimized workflow for INSPIRE Monitoring,

Register of INSPIRE namespaces

Data providers can register namespace to be used for the creation of unique INSPIRE-identifiers. A redirecting service will forward calls to the registered resources.

Register of organisations

The GDI-DE Registry is designed to be used by many organisations, that have active roles, e.g. regional INSPIRE contact points or data providers. Hence the management of the active organisations is maintained in a register of its own. The user management component of the registry does also use this register by assigning users to registered organisations.

Register of xml schemas

This register is implemented as simple repository hosted at
http://repository.gdi-de.org/schemas/

Information model

The information model used by the GDI-DE Registry corresponds to ISO 19135:2005 Geographic information - Procedures for item registration.

Applied standards, format – presentations

The GDI-DE Registry implements ISO 19135:2005 Geographic information - Procedures for item registration information model and management procedures.

Presentations: text/html, planned: application/xml based on ISO/TS 19135-2:2012, Geographic information - Procedures for item registration -- Part 2: XML schema, SKOS for code lists.

Referenced and managed entities

In the current implemented registers, the item information model is extended by custom / thematic properties for each item class.

Status codes

GDI-DE Registry supports Item Status according ISO 19135:2005 Geographic information - Procedures for item registration:

  • not valid,
  • valid,
  • superseded,
  • retired

Life cycle, history and versioning

GDI-DE Registry supports life cycle according ISO 19135:2005 Geographic information - Procedures for item registration:

  • Addition,
  • Clarification,
  • Retirement,
  • Supersession

URI (identifier) patterns

API/Access via HTTP URIs provided by URI patterns:

Registry:                 http ://<registry-host>[/<timestamp>]

ItemClass:               http ://<registry-host>/<itemclass>[/<timestamp>]

Register:                 http ://<registry-host>/<register>[/<timestamp>]

Subregister/Item:     http ://<registry-host>/<register>/<domain>[/<timestamp>]

<domain> is a local identifier, that identifies a register item within a principal register. The string describing the domain is a dot separated path to the item in a hierarchical or structured register.

The GDI-DE Registry uses a hierarchical register/subregisters architecture to map existing organisational structures to the register structure.

Example of a subregister structure:

API and connection points

Procedures for item registration are supported according ISO 19135:2005 Geographic information - Procedures for item registration via responsive user interface and API operations (SOAP, WSDL)
